Aquamarine

Aquamarine
comes from the Latin word aqua marina meaning "sea water".  It is a transparent variety of beryl that is blue, blue-green or green in color.  The blue variety is the most valuable and the darker the blue, the more valuable the stone.

Aquamarine was the eithth foundation stone in the wall of the New Jerusalem and was used to guard against injury during battle.  Sometimes known as the"Serene One", it is said to calm the nerves and reduce fluid retention, enhancing clarity of mind and aiding to creative self-expression.  And also known to promote safe travel on the sea.

Aquamarine is one of the birthstones for March (with Bloodstone), symbolizing courage.
